Life Education Trust

Hello all! I hope you had a great long weekend! Today we visited the Life Education Truck here at O.L.A.  Kim taught  us all about the healthy foods that our body needs.

One thing that she taught Room 3 is that Oxygen + Blood + Water = Energy! The kids were all soooo into this saying!

Here are a few photos from today:

Tomorrow we have our second and final visit. I'm sure your child will come home and tell you all about it after school!

This afternoon the children started another art piece with Mrs Hooker as part of our printmaking unit. Here are your children hard at work!

Tomorrow I am out of the classroom at a Numicon course in our school hall so Mrs Chitty will be teaching in Room 3.  See you in the morning :)

HAPPY LABOUR WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!

Today an email was sent to you all outlining details for our upcoming swim weeks during Weeks 3 and 4 of this term.  Could you please send this back ASAP to Jacqui so she can finalise the swim groups for Wharenui Swim School.  Thank you!  If you didn't get the email, please let me know and I will forward it to you.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend with your families and I'll see you all on Tuesday

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all having a wonderful afternoon in this lovely weather.  Things are going really well in Room 3 - everyone has settled right back into school after our two week holiday break, including our brand new children :)

Today during PE, we started learning how to play T-Ball.  Our lesson today was all about how to hold the bat and how to hit the ball off a 't' - we used tennis balls on 4 cones today so the children were able to have 4 hits at a time when it was their turn.  They all loved it!  Here are a few shots ...

And here are some photos from last Thursday when Amy from ASB visited to teach the children all about the importance of saving money.  Her motto was "Spend to your needs and save for your wants".  It was a wonderful presentation!

Just a wee reminder about Friday - you all should have received an email today about dressing as your favourite rugby team's colours.  Rooms 1 and 3 are also going to mass on Friday so they DO NOT need their school uniform as they will all be in mufti.

See you all in the morning!

Evening everyone,

Here is a copy of a notice that was sent home in your child's reading folder today.

RUTHERFORD TEAM NOTICE
Re –Health Unit –‘Body Growth’
Wednesday October 14th 2015
Dear Parents
Over the next 4 weeks as part of our Health unit on Body Growth we will be talking about our body, baby milestones and the essentials needed to ensure we have a healthy body. The Life Education caravan is coming to school in week 3 and we will be learning about the different foods we need to eat throughout the day to stay healthy and give us energy.
Tomorrow Thursday Oct 15th we will be naming and labelling body parts. This will include the private parts of the body. Hopefully this might generate an interesting discussion at home.
Your classroom teacher will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Kind Regards,
Rutherford Team Teachers
Mary Shaw, Colleen O’Neill, Nick Grant, Rebekah Carroll and Cushla Fitzsimmons

Please feel free to pop in and see me or email me if you have any questions/queries.

Thank you!

WELCOME BACK FOR TERM 4!!!!!

It has been wonderful to see you all back for the final term of our school year.  We do have a very busy term ahead as you will have seen by the class newsletter that was in your child's reading folder tonight.  If you haven't seen it, it is in there with a smaller notice about our Room 3 baby photo competition.  I am really looking forward to seeing these photos!

Seems our Athletic Sports was postponed from today until Friday, we were able to get outside and practise our sprints today - I can tell you that we have some pretty fast runners in Room 3 so I hope you are able to pop down for some stage on Friday to see your child(ren) participate.

During reading today, our Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle group read their story to the class.  I was super proud of them and thought they did an amazing job.  Have a look ...

See you all in the morning :)
