BOTANICAL GARDENS TRIP

WOW!!!  What a fantastic day we all had today!  Thank you so much to everyone who came down to see us at some stage today - it really was wonderful to see so many of you :).  Special thanks to John Kubiak, Steph McConnell and Arthur Morley-Bunker for being our wonderful parent helps ... we couldn't have done without you!!!

We all had a wonderful time!  The weather was just glorious and the children were just such a pleasure to bring out on a trip.   We had our water colour art lesson when we got there - if your child's artwork didn't come home today, it will definitely be coming home tomorrow.  After our lesson and after we had our morning tea, the children had a free play session which they absolutely loved!!!  A HUGE hit were the amazing trees which the children climbed, crawled under, made up imaginative games with, used their bark as musical instruments and the list goes on.  The children collected cones, leaves; played tag; and simply had fun playing with one another.  They truly could have stayed there for hours :).

We also visited the huge glasshouse and spotted the banana trees before having an adventure in the 'maze' (the beautiful rose garden).  And of COURSE, after the children had their lunch, they had a play in the children's playground.  All in all it was a fantastic day and well worth a visit if you have a bit of spare time in the holidays.

Well, that's the last post for the year!  I have really enjoyed teaching your children this year and thank you all for your support - you are an amazing group of parents with wonderful children and I am so looking forward to continuing to teach them all again next year.  I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I will see you again on the 1st of February in Room 2 :)

END OF THE YEAR!!!

Hello there everyone!  I can't believe Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!

Last week we had another busy week in Room 3, particularly on Friday when we moved into Room 2.  The shift went really well so we are all set up and ready to go in Room 2 tomorrow.

First thing tomorrow the whole school is walking down to Cashmere High School for our prize giving practice.  Your child only needs to have their sports uniform tomorrow as we won't be back until lunchtime - they do however, need to wear their full school uniform WITHOUT JERSEYS tomorrow night at the prize giving.  Prizegiving starts at 6pm so could you please have your child there by 5.45 at the latest.

On Tuesday we have our Rutherford Team visit to the gardens which you have already received a notice about earlier.

On Wednesday our final school mass is at 11.00 and then school finishes for the year at 12.30!

Last week we had our last Balloon Badminton lesson.  The children absolutely loved these 4 lessons that they have had - Carrie the instructor was simply superb and they all learnt so much.  Have a look at all the fun they had ...

BALLOON BADMINTON SESSION NUMBER 3

Wow!  What a beautiful day today!  We certainly had the air conditioning roaring today in Room 3 as there were some pretty hot children coming back into class after morning tea and lunch breaks :)

Luckily we had our balloon badminton session just before morning tea so it wasn't as hot as it was later.  Today the children learnt to throw, then hit a shuttlecock with a racket during a game of piggy in the middle so they were getting used to holding the racket, hitting the shuttlecock and having a rally.  They also practiced hitting a balloon as they did last week. Carrie, the teacher, is amazing and the children are ALL learning so much.

Today the children also had their second day of Christmas crafts - they went to Room 12 while Room 2 came to me to make their reindeer Christmas tree decoration.  Your child's reindeer decoration hopefully came home today ....

Your children were very proud of their efforts so we hope you like them :)

What's been happening lately in Room 3!!

Hello there everyone,  just thought I'd let you know what we are up to for the rest of the term in Room 3.

Today the Rutherford Team started their Christmas craft rotations.  For the next week, your child will be going to a different Rutherford Team class and making a Christmas craft!  We started off today in Room 3 - your child made a reindeer tree decoration which they will bring home tomorrow.  We think they look great so we hope that you all like them too!  Room 3 children are off to Room 12 on Wednesday, Room 11 on Thursday, Room 1 on Friday and Room 2 next Monday so look out for all the amazing Christmas crafts which will be coming home :)

Also, in keeping with the Christmas spirit, next Tuesday we are going over to Cherry's preschool with Room 1 to watch the children perform a Christmas play.  It is going to be very exciting for Violet in particular as she is going to get to see her sister!

Your child may have also told you about the special visit that we had from Tandia's brother Ashton and Clara from Room 8 last week.  They were 'choosing kind' and came over to read a couple of books to the children AND made up a wee play with them as well.  They read them an Anthony Browne and Lynley Dodd book - both favourite authors of our class - and at the end gave them a balloon.  Thank you Ashton and Clara!

Another big thank you MUST go to Saskia who brought in a skink a couple of Fridays ago to share with the class.  We were all very intrigued by what a skink is, where Saskia got it from and what skinks actually eat!    Thank you so much Saskia!!!

I hope you all have a great night and I'll see you in the morning :)

Hello everyone,

What wonderful weather we are having at the moment!  Summer is certainly on it's way!  In relation to this, just a wee reminder about the PTA Family Fun night on tomorrow night - it's from 5-7pm so bring your family and a picnic tea and come on down and enjoy the fun.

Today we had our 2nd session of balloon badminton.  The children learnt how to hold the racket and then were using it to hit the balloon.  Here are some photos ....

Next week is going to be our last week of instructional reading in the Rutherford Team so if you have any school reading books at home, can we please have them back by then.

Have a great night and I'll see you in the morning.
